Olde Mill is proud to welcome George Kriek as Tennis Pro and head of our Tennis Program.
Originally from South Africa, George comes from a celebrated family of tennis professionals. His brother Pieter is the Director of Tennis at The Colony in Bonita Springs, Florida. His sister Thea still lives in South Africa where she teaches tennis at the George Tennis Club. And his brother Johan is a two-time Australian Open Champion and former top ten player in the world. He is also the founder of Springbok Tennis Academy in Sarasota, Florida.
George, himself, played a lot of tennis tournaments as a child and played for a tennis team while serving in the South African Air Force from 1982-1984. After that, George worked as a Tennis Pro at several Country Clubs in Naples, Florida, before moving to Mount Airy, North Carolina, where he coached at Cross Creek Country Club for 8 years.
George is very excited to be part of Olde Mill where he will be spearheading the tennis program, where full access will be given to residents as well as guests. In addition to private lessons and clinics for both children and adults, George plans to host unique signature experiences to include full-day and overnight retreats, tournaments, exhibition matches and more.
“I want to spotlight tennis in this part of Virginia like never before,” says George. “Together we can fuel passions, introduce new experiences and bring families and friends closer together.”
