On going renovations at the 18th hole continue through mid June.  Maples crew have been hard at work moving tons (literally) of dirt to re-slope the 18th fairway.

Also pictured in the background is the existing condos and the new Overlook condos being built.   The 18th was a par 5 before the renovations began, with the changes it will play as a par 4. Making the 18th a more challenging finish to the round.  Blue Ridge Mountain Golf at its finest.

Work on 5th green completed

May 18th, 2010

IMG00052-20100515-1742[1]     With renovations nearing completion here.  Our new superintendent Bradley Boyd has started work on some smaller projection that include sodding of some new areas around the course.  The 5th hole has a new rock wall around the green as well as a huge rock wall next to the green.  Bradley and the crew cleaned this area and put sod down as well to enhance the rock.  I think they did a tremendous job making the 5th hole even more appealing! You can also see the sod has grown in nicely around the rock wall surrounding the green!  This fall Olde Mill will be Blue Ridge Mountain Golf at its finest.

In our continued efforts to enhance the Mountain Living Experience, we have ramped up construction of our nature trails, parks and our outdoor recreation facilities.  As you can see there is much progress being made.  The cleared river banks are being seeded with Kentucky Blue Rye grass.  This will make the parks near the river a perfect venue for family picnics and outings for our guests here at Olde Mill.  Just imagine the cool green grass between your toes as you breathe in the Blue Ridge Mountain air.  What could be more soothing?

     More updates to come!

We had a great day at Bud Break Wine Festival in Mt Airy NC. We would like to thank Ben Webb and Bob Meinecke for putting together such a great event.  As you can see in these pictures the turn out was great and lots of smiling faces.  It did not hurt that the weather was absolutely perfect.  We enjoyed the sounds of several musicians throughout the day.  This is the first in a long line of Bud Break Wine Festivals, and we are happy to be a part of it’s continued and growing success.
Events like this are what make this part of the country so much fun to be in.  Olde Mill will continue to support these types of events.

Olde Mill at the Bud Break Festival

April 29th, 2010

Chef's Wine Label

The first annual Bud Break Festival will be on Saturday May 1st in downtown Mt Airy and Olde Mill will be there in force.  What a great event.  There will be wine tasting from 25 local vineyards, food, arts and crafts, and lots of live music on stage.  Please come out and support us as we provide some delicious Cabernet braised beef to compliment the release of our house blend red wine, Blue Ridge.  That’s right.  We our unveiling our red wine blend of local grapes at the festival.  Blue ridge wine is a joint effort from Old North State Winery and Olde Mill Resort.  Ben Webb and Chef Ed have put their minds and palates together to make a local blend of Tannat, Cabernet Franc and  Malbec.  The blend captures the best flavors of the region and the label and name represent our unique part of the world.  It is a very exciting time for all of us here and we hope you can take time to come visit us on Saturday afternoon in downtown Mt Airy, the weather should be great.

For more details on the event please check out www.budbreakfestival.com
